Attorney General Roy Cooper’s speech was interrupted by the wildest cheers yet as CNN projected Virginia for Obama. A Obama victory seems all-but-certain as this point to those in the crowd. Even the McCain camp seems to be becoming dejected, CNN reports.
With eyes red and a hint of tiredness, they wait restlessly for the official call.
David Price addressed the crowd moments ago, lauding the achievements of “President Barack Obama” and the “team for change,” also congratulating his new colleague in Congress, State sen. Kay Hagan.

Sen. Elizabeth Dole, Woman’s College ‘58, just finished delivering her concession speech in Salisbury, N.C. She spoke about how she was not a politician “by choice” and never felt completely comfortable fraternizing with the boys in the cloak room. She said she was disappointed by the negative tone of her race against state Sen. Kay Hagan of Greensboro, but she congratulated the Democrat on her victory.
“Sen. Dole can rest with great assurance as she returns to her civilian life, a normal life, that she has served her country and her fellow man very well,” said N.C. Republican Party Chairman Linda Daves to the crowd here after the speech.

Attendees at the Dem’s party no longer seem nervous about a potential McCain Victory.
Everyone these reporters have talked to seem to be under the impression that Obama has got this one in the bag.
“I’ll be crying enough to fill up any reservoir if John McCain wins,” said Elethea Watson, retiree and campaign volunteer with the Obama campaign, with a wink and a smile, assured that that is not going to be the outcome of tonight. “I’m not even 70 yet and I have had my senior moments…. You do not want a man in John McCain’s position to be having senior moments.”
The partying continues as the Dems have begun blasting “Celebrate” in between commercials on the major news networks.
